The Best AI Receptionist For UK Plumbers

Stuart By Stuart Founder, ClearCall UPDATED OCTOBER 2026
UK plumbers & heating engineers

Stop losing jobs while you're on the tools.

ClearCall answers every call, sorts emergencies from routine jobs, takes the details you need and books the diary. Then it chases quotes and payments and sends reminders for you. Done for you, so you stay on site.

  • Free report, no card
  • You set the rules
  • Fixed price in writing first
  • Built and managed for you
Sound familiar?

You're good on the tools. The phone and the paperwork are the bottleneck.

  • You're under a bath, hands wet, and the phone rings. By the time you ring back, they've booked another plumber.
  • It's 8pm after a 10-hour day. Now you're writing quotes at the kitchen table.
  • You sent a quote last week and never had time to chase it. The customer went elsewhere.
  • The job finished weeks ago. You're still waiting to be paid.

One person cannot be on the tools and on the phone at the same time. That is the gap ClearCall fills.

The numbers

What the research says about running a trade business

Every figure is third-party, with the source below. The NOW Report was commissioned by Powered Now, which sells a receptionist app, so we label it as vendor research. These are not ClearCall results.

£5,901

is the average amount UK tradespeople said they were owed in unpaid invoices.

We could not find an independent UK figure for how many callers hang up on a tradesperson's voicemail, so we do not quote one. The calculator below uses your own numbers.

What we can do for you

Six jobs it takes off your plate, not just the phone

1. Never miss a job

Callers do not leave voicemails. They ring the next plumber.

  • Answers day and night and says it is an AI helper for your business
  • Takes postcode, access, boiler make and model, error code and what is wrong
  • Books the diary and texts you the job
  • Instant reply to enquiries from lead sites and your web form

2. Emergencies first

A burst pipe at 2am is not a dripping tap.

  • Flags real emergencies straight to your phone, using the rules you set
  • Tells anyone who smells gas to ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999
  • Books routine work for normal hours

3. Fewer wasted trips

Price-checkers and no-shows burn diesel and hours.

  • States your call-out and out-of-hours rates before booking
  • Appointment reminders by text
  • "On my way" text with an arrival window

4. Quotes go out and get chased

The quote you never chase is the job you lose.

  • Job details turned into a draft quote from your price list, for you to approve
  • Polite follow-ups by text and email until they say yes, no or stop

5. Get paid sooner

Chasing invoices takes weekends.

  • Payment reminders in your wording, on a schedule you set
  • A weekly list of who owes you what, and for how long

6. Repeat work on autopilot

Your past customers are your cheapest jobs.

  • Yearly boiler service reminders to your own customers
  • Reminders to landlords when the annual gas safety check is due
  • A review request after every job

HSE: landlords must have an annual gas safety check by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and give tenants a copy within 28 days.

The demo line shows the starting point: it answers, asks about your business and emails you a summary. Everything above is built around your business after your free report, and we tell you in writing what can and cannot be connected to your systems before you commit.

Ring our agent. Get an instant understanding by email.

We build and test

You approve the rules, hear test calls, then it goes live with you still in control.

Emergency or routine?

Every call gets a lane before it gets an answer

You set the rules. This is the starting point.

Red

Straight to your phone by call and text.

  • Burst pipe or flooding
  • No heating or hot water for someone vulnerable, or in freezing weather
  • Anything you mark as an emergency

Amber

Booked for the next available slot.

  • No heating or hot water, not vulnerable
  • Leaks you can contain
  • Boiler fault codes

Green

Booked for normal hours.

  • Dripping taps, radiator bleeds
  • Quotes and installs
  • Servicing and safety checks

Not for the AI, ever

  • Diagnosing a fault or advising on gas work. A gas smell goes to the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
  • Quoting a fixed price you have not set.
  • Anything it is unsure about. It hands over to you.
Got questions?

Plumbing and heating FAQs

Will my customers know it is not me?

Yes. It opens by saying it is an AI helper for your business, in wording you approve, and it can pass a caller to you if they ask. Most callers want to be booked in. They care that someone picked up.

Can it tell a real emergency from a normal job?

You set the rules. A burst pipe, no heating for a vulnerable person or a flood is flagged straight to your phone by call and text. A dripping tap gets booked into your diary for normal hours. If it is unsure, it hands over to you.

What does it do if someone smells gas?

It tells them to ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999, which is free and open 24 hours, and flags the call to you. It does not give gas safety advice.

Can it take boiler error codes?

Yes. It asks the caller to read the code and the make and model off the boiler and adds them to the job brief, so you know what you are walking into.

Will it tell people my call-out charge?

Yes, if you want it to. You give it your daytime, out-of-hours and weekend rates and it states them before booking, so the jobs in your diary are from people who accepted them.

What details does it capture for a visit?

Name, number, postcode, access and parking notes, what is wrong, boiler make, model and error code where relevant, and any previous service history the caller knows. You choose what is asked.

Can it chase quotes and payments?

Yes, as add-ons we build for you. It sends follow-ups by text and email in wording you approve, and stops when the customer replies, pays, books or asks to stop. We set them up per business and check the rules for each type of message first.

Does it work with my diary and job software?

That depends on what you use and what it lets us connect to. We check in your free report. If something cannot be connected, jobs go to you by text and email and to your calendar, and we tell you which applies before you commit.

What does it cost?

The report is free. A build is priced on your call volume and what you want automated. You get one fixed price in writing after the report and before anything is built. If the numbers do not support it, we say so.

I am a sole trader. Is this for me?

It can be. When you are under a sink or up a ladder, nobody else answers. If your volume is too low to make sense, the report will show that and we will tell you.

Do I need to be good with tech?

No. We build, test and maintain it. You get job notifications by text and email and carry on working.

Can I hear it before I decide?

Yes. Ring 0330 533 0665. It asks about your business, works out where calls and admin are leaking, then emails you what it found and how we can help. You also hear exactly how it sounds.

Who is behind this

Founder-led, so you deal with me

I build AI voice agents and automations for UK small businesses. I am not a plumber, which is why you set the rules and I build around them.
